Name: Roxas
Age: 16
Canon: Kingdom Hearts
History: A handy-dandy wiki link.
personality
Strengths: For starters, unlike the other Nobodies, Roxas has the unique ability to be possessed of and express emotions. ( Because he wasn't born like the others in the Organization, because he was possessed of Ventus' heart and it stayed with him even after the separation of Sora from his own heart, ultimately resulting in Roxas' creation. ) Like any other human being with an actual heart, he can run the proverbial gamut end to end, find himself happy or sad, or worried – or angry, which he has a tendency to have a bit of a problem with, but that definitely goes into the flaws section.
But suffice to to say that this puts him strides ahead of the older Organization members, who might remember what it was like to have a heart, but lack the capacity for experiencing and subsequently expressing any level of emotion.
He might be the other half of Sora, and in that way they share a lot of the same qualities; they both care deeply for their friends and will go to any lengths necessary in order to keep them safe, and they both possess a level of stubbornness that can't really go by any other word than headstrong. But given the nature of his creation, he was brought into existence without any memories – which has effectively made him into a blank slate and left him bereft of the knowledge of some of the simplest things. During his first few weeks in the Organization, he would constantly ask Axel about things like friendship, and why people laughed in order to better understand the interactions he would come across while on missions. He doesn't get it, initially, what it means to be friends with someone else, but when Axel insists that's what they are, he takes it without much question at all.
That implies a level of innocence that comes from ignorance, and for all intents and purposes, he is from the sheer lack of experience. But he is by no means gullible, something that he doesn't exactly share with his counterpart – sorra, Sora, you are kind of a dodohead – and it makes him receptive to everything that goes on around him, just on the off-chance that he'll be able to take something away and end up making himself a little more worldly. ( You know … it's bound to happen when you visit more than a handful of different worlds in the span of a week.I'm not funny. I am very sorry.)
He's a little bit of a rebel in the sense that he refuses to fit into any specific role assigned to him by the rest of the Organization – even by Xemnas himself. Never without the question of why thrown back at a given order, it's that level of independent behavior that ultimately leads to him finding out more and more about himself which bring back around the hows and the whys of his importance in the first place. ( He doesn't make much of an attempt at hiding the fact that sometimes he wants to just be a regular kid, to be able to have friends and hang out and eat ice cream all the time without having to worry about the sorts of things that go on inside the Black Coat Mafia. That he doesn't want anything to do with the keyblade or Kingdom Hearts. )
He's a good kid, when it all comes down to it. A little naïve, a little new to everything, but more than willing to pick up the slack where everything else has fallen short so far. He might not have initially understood what it meant to be friends with someone else, but the ones that have come into his life and made a place for themselves there – namely, Axel and Xion – have taught him a lot about what it means to rely on the power of friendship. And above all else, regardless of the similarities he has with his Other –
He is not Sora.
Flaws: So. About those anger issues we mentioned earlier. Roxas has never been accused of being the most patient person in all the worlds, and he's even less so when he thinks he's being strung along for no good reason. ( Or when he's being taken advantage of, much like the way he's being used for his power over the keyblade. ) He's incredibly blunt, whether out of having no frame of reference for how to go about things delicately or because he doesn't think about what he says before it's out of his mouth – orrr he just doesn't care either way – it's anyone's guess, and it isn't precisely a flaw as much as it is an aspect of his personality that makes him different from Sora.
Sora is patient. Accepting. Willing to parse out the good from the bad where Roxas is nothing short of demanding of answers to his questions right then and there. He doesn't take to waiting well, nor does he like being given the run-around when he asks very specific things and they end up getting deflected. ( Xigbar is kind of the king of deflection, when it comes down to it. And he knows it. And blondie here still doesn't get what sort of merit comes from not giving the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help them … not god, but someone else, maybe. Anyone else. )
He's wreckless, in a sense, having a tendency to err on the side of flippant when it comes to making snap decisions. ( Really, I think it can be said that he's very often led around by his emotions, thinking more with the metaphorical heart that doesn't belong to him instead of taking the time to take a more rational line of thinking. ) He's also a little bit selfish, but not so much that he doesn't ultimately agree to take his place inside Sora's heart – even if he still remains of the thought that his heart belongs to him and no one else. It says a lot about his character development that he even resigns himself to joining with him in the first place, instead of remaining obstinate.
Miscellaneous: He really likes sea salt ice cream – and sharing it with his friends. And while it's taken him a while to get used to the idea of friendship, having never experienced it before he'd been brought into the Organization and effectively taken under Axel's wing, it's a concept that he still finds novel. He's curious about people and their interactions, the bonds that end up being forged through them, and once he's found he considers someone a friend, there isn't much at all that he won't do for them. Little things mean a lot to him, like something as small as Xion bringing a seashell back from her most recent mission and giving it to him, or sitting on top of a clock tower and sharing ice cream with a redhead. He might not be outwardly friendly when he first meets someone, but it's only because it takes him a while to warm up to them, to figure them out, so to speak, and given he's been starved for friends he would like the opportunity to learn more about what it means to be close to someone. ( Since … he has a rather small frame of reference. )
powers / abilities ( just for funsies )
→ dual-wielding keyblades; Oathkeeper and Oblivion, since his heart is made up of the two halves' of two separate keyblade wielders
→ moderate knowledge of magic; much like Sora in that respect, but he has a tendency to prefer physical attacks over magical ones
→ pretty decent stamina / endurance; kid doesn't get knocked down easily, and when he does, he doesn't stay down for very long
→ limit break / event horizon; a rapid-fire attack in which he darts around with his keyblade enveloped in light, slash-slash-slashing away
→ limit break / magic hour; his duel-wielding limit break, in which he floats around overhead and fires down light beams that decimate your ass ( not that I think it's going to have any sort of bearing during his stay in the game, but it merits mentioning? maybe? )
game plans
Starting Faction: Light / Empress
Goals: I have no real goals outright, mostly because I'm just so thrilled to bring the kid into a game in the first place that I want to do all kinds of things. Though – I would really like to see how he interacts with the Birth by Sleep crew, since ~facetwin shenanigans~ and all, and being confused for someone that he has never met before is really going to throw him for a loop. Having more interactions with people that can effectively teach him what it's like to expand one's circle of friends and that it's okay to worry about them / be protective of them is something that I would like to see, too, because he doesn't exactly have the greatest track record when it comes to that sort of thing.
